You have all been on my mind and in my heart…

Dear Jim, Faith, Anna, and Jake,

You have all been on my mind and in my heart since beloved Drew went to Heaven in June. When someone passes whom we love, I think a question that may pass through our minds is "I wonder what they are doing in Heaven?", and I have thought of this a lot when thinking about Drew. Informed from my time at LCA with Drew on the Cross Country team, I think of Drew running in Heaven around endless fields and roads and the most beautiful views, including Bartlett Ave where our runs often commenced. I think of the beautiful photos of your family trips and travels, and the incredible sights he is seeing, maybe even another bunjee jump. I think of Drew sitting beside your loved ones who have already gone to Heaven, and them chatting about shared experiences and time together. I think of Drew's wit and the way he made people laugh, really laugh. I know Heaven has become a much more giggly place since he came. His beautiful smile always made you feel included, seen, and loved, and I know its just gotten even bigger (if possible!) as he looks to you all from above. I pray you know his love, feel his strength, and see his beautiful spirit in your every day. I pray you feel God's love and presence as you navigate grief and navigate life without him right by your side. Although he may not be "here", I pray you see his touch and the way he changed our lives and our world for the better. Through the way he made others feel included by involving them in conversations and affirming their experiences when sharing in class, I look to Drew as an example of a truly beautiful person who loves and cares for those around him. I am grateful for having the chance to walk (run!) alongside Drew during my time at LCA, and for his spirit to continue to encourage me to be more like Drew in the way he genuinely cared for those around him. Also, Drew was always very fast, much faster than me in Cross Country, so I look to his spirit to make me run faster (and as encouragement to run in the first place!) :) You are in my prayers always, and I am holding you all close to my heart.

Prayerfully, Delaney Wells
