Meet Drew
Drew loved life, family, and friends. We remember Drew as….
Fun-loving and at times mischievous
Drew loved to have fun, to pull pranks and do goofy things with his friends. Eating pizza with friends and marveling them by finishing a full bag of Oreo in one sitting…. but somehow, he never put on weight! He loved to tease his sister and brother and friends, but always with that Drew smile that would light up the room and make everyone laugh.
Adventurous
His adventures started in middle school when he and his buddies would trek off into the woods with airsoft guns for epic battles.
They continued through his high school and college, hiking and camping in the mountains of New England - cliff dives and rope swings into the Saco River.
On a family trip to Zimbabwe, Drew decided to bungee jump off the Victoria Falls bridge — nearly a 400-foot drop. As the rest of us stood shaking, Drew walked onto the platform, bent his knees, and dove head first.

Passionate, and a bit of a perfectionist
This started with Legos and grew into Mindstorm Robotics. In 7th grade, he would sit in his room for hours on the computer. We would yell upstairs to stop playing video games and he yelled back, “I’m learning to code”— but we weren’t buying that. We burst into his room, and there he was, sitting in front of YouTube screens with coding instructions. For his high school independent research course, he developed his own multiplayer, networked video game.
Another example of Drew’s perfectionism was his pizza-making skills. We made homemade pizzas as a family several times a month. Drew’s pizza was always a perfect circle and exactly the right size for our pizza oven. When he found something he liked, Drew was all-in!
Strong-willed — some may say stubborn
Drew loved to debate…but most of these were short, blunt, pretty one-sided…and always in his favor. It was that strong will that made Drew and as accomplished as he was. It also contributed to his denial and the challenges we had getting through to him.
