There are things people don’t say…
There are things people don’t say because it’s one of those things that don’t need to be said. Well now I have something to say even though there is nothing you can say back. Today is December 2nd, 2021. It’s definitely been a minute as they say. I just listened to the song “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa. There is no way you have never heard that song. It’s definitely been a minute since I heard that song and it's a classic. Now that I think about it, the last time I saw you was probably right before spring break of 2020. I remember because everyone was leaving for spring break and we knew Covid was a growing problem and everyone was like ah it’ll be over in 2 weeks and we’ll be back. Actually, make that 2 months...oh and graduation is cancelled…and actually make that nearly 2 years and things never returned to normal. Ain’t life crazy?
By the way, Arcane came out about a month ago. Yep, they made an animated series for League. Can you believe it? It was supposed to come out in 2020, but you know…Covid. People have been telling them to make a movie or show for ages now. It finally happened and it was actually really good, like 100% on Rotten Tomatoes good. I know you would have been so hyped about it. Takes us back to the good ole days.
You know, Unity really made me realize how great of a friend you were. You truly don’t know what you have until it’s gone. And you fam, you were actually the most selfless person that I ever knew. I mean it. That isn’t hyperbole. I mean that literally. You would help people and expect absolutely nothing in return. You helped people because you were a friend and that is what friends do for one another. Do you remember how you would longboard all the way to south campus to hang out with Ajay, Derek, Andrew, and me on some Friday/Saturday nights? We’d go to the Esplanade sometimes and had some real nerd hours at Ajay’s place and then towards the end of the night you’d have to longboard back all the way across campus. No one else would really make such a trip. We didn’t do that as much senior year, but I have to say, those were some of the best college nights.
Know that you live through memory. Every time “See You Again” comes up in my playlist, I’ll tear up a bit and think about the good times we’ve had. Farewell, Drew.
