You guys already know that Drew was never afraid…
You guys already know that Drew was never afraid to push limits and skiing was no exception. When your family let us stay at the ski house last year, I really got to see him in action. I remember watching drew go down the steeper routes on the mountain. He would always try to go as fast as possible. I wondered how it didn’t faze him. That trip was my first-time skiing, but I really had my sights set on finishing a blue route before going home. So, on the last day, drew said he’d take me on one. I remember getting off the lift with him and staring down the hill we had been scoping out (background of photo) and thinking: hell no. But Drew was persistent. He kept telling me I could totally handle it, that I just had to send it down. I told him okay but he had to go first, so he did and I watched him speed down. As I started sliding forward I thought: alright I gotta channel drew here and just stay cool, have fun, and go fast. Going down that hill was probably the most fun I had skiing that trip. And drew was just around the bend making sure I got down the initial drop okay. I went skiing several more times that season without drew, but every time I went down an intimidating path all I was thinking about was channeling drew. What would drew do? He’d probably love this. So instead of being nervous, Id be excited about it. Now I picture him anytime Im doing something that gets the adrenaline pumping, and he helps me get through it. That is a special piece of himself that Drew shared with me that has made me a more adventurous person and helped me push my limits. It’s something I am very grateful for.
